About Rakeman

Hi. You’ve somehow made it to my personal blog, which is nice! It’s a bit of a playground, which is why there are large gaps with no postings, and somehow I’m flip-flopping between German and English. I don’t know whoever came up with “rakeman”, but it stuck, so there.

My primary occupation is working as “Regional Manager Northern Europe” for Paratech, a manufacturer of equipment for Rescue Services. Beyond this, I run fwnetz, which is about news and training resources for the firefighting community here in Germany. For more professional info, see my profile on linkedin.

Apart from firefighting, video, photography and all things digital tickle my fancy. Home is Haar, right outside Munich / Germany.

Deutsch

Lange Version auf Deutsch: Keine Ahnung, wo “rakeman” herkommt. Hat aber sicherlich etwas mit “Irakli” zu tun. Irakli West, Baujahr 68, Däne, lebt in Haar bei München. Spricht Deutsch, Englisch, Dänisch, Französisch und Russisch. Spanisch und Italienisch auch, wenn man Hände und Füsse dazunimmt.

Beruflich tätig als Regional Manager Northern Europe für Paratech, einem Hersteller von Geräten für Feuerwehren. Ausserdem betreibe ich das FWnetz, eine deutschsprachige Plattform für Feuerwehrler.

Stationen im Berufsleben waren, rückwärts aufgelistet: Geschäftsleitung Posterjack, selbständig (blogging, Beratung), trnd (Geschäftsleitung), HypoVereinsbank (Innovationsmanagement), Syzygy London (Mobile Digital Services), eigene Agentur (Internet, Mediaplanung, Videoproduktion) und Media-Promotion (Mediaplanung).

Ausbildung zum Videographer (BFA Hons).

Interesse an Feuerwehr, neue Entwicklungen im Web und allgemeine gesellschaftliche Entwicklungen, insbesondere der Erhalt unserer Wettbewerbsfähigkeit auf globaler Ebene durch Kreativität. Dazu gehört Vernetzung und Dialog, virtuell und reell.

Welcome to Irakli West's personal pages on the Web. I am Danish, live close to Munich in Germany, and run FWnetz, an online magazine and training resource for firefighters. In real life, I am Regional Manager Northern Europe for Paratech, teach Heavy Rescue (it's fun, challenging and serves a good purpose) and try to learn more about USAR.
