On the Road: Videography
I’m slowly starting to work my way into videography again, after roughly 10 years’ break. This time, I gave myself one hour to produce a little editing exercise using surplus footage from a recent trip to Kardaun, Südtirol, Italy.

It’s mostly about editing rhythm, but also music cue and a few other parameters. The result is far from perfect, and I might do a bit more work on it, but it’s not too bad imho.
Ths music used is Broken, Durden remix on ccmixter, and the video is available in HD on Vimeo. As for the shoot itself, I had to work with a crappy cheap photo tripod, so no pans and tilts, and an unfavourably angle on the interviewees. Bought an OK tripod today, next should be a steadycam, some lights and perhaps a handheld mic.
The HV30 is a neat little performer, main drawback so far is the stoopid focus button, it is almost impossible to do focus pulls. Need to practice a bit more with record modes.
I’ve also brought back some photos, which can be seen starting here on Flickr. Travelling Brenneautobahn is always an experience.
Passion for Wind
Excellent little short about a man who makes sails for windmills.

Pursuit between two invisible people
Totally awesome video. I really don’t think things can become more abstract than that.

Exploring the camera: rain
The good thing about non-commercial videos? Fantastic CC Music a-plenty. Gave myself one hour for a video short. It was raining, so I headed out in the garden to play a bit with f-stop 2.8. Here we go:
