Back to video. Nice.

High Tatra

Heading back from Nowy Sacz in Poland, the trip took me past the High Tatra Mountains in northern Slovakia. What an amazing sight! The cloud cover broke and revealed this magnificent sight. The psychological underline, as it were, is the knowlege that the place is populated by bears and wolves. Nice to be sitting in a car, but people carrying wood on their backs by the roadside seemed not to be bothered :)

CDG

This trip to the US took me via Paris airport – another one that seems like a big mess in many respects. At least they didn’t lose my bag like Heathrow did back in June. Terminal E has got a nice feel about it, though.

Maps: recommendations

Maps are for me what bubble wrap is for others. If I’d had the time and energy, I’d have started Strange Maps. I don’t have either, but thankfully someone else did! And while we’re at it, here is a list of fascinating old maps.

MacBook Pro camera not working

For some reason the iSight / Webcam / Camera of my 2-year old MacBook Pro stopped working. Followed this tip about resetting the PRAM (thought that was a baby thingy with wheels) by restarting and pressing command-alt-p-r and now it’s working again. Doesn’t happen often, but it’s pleasant to find the right tip once in a while.

Mac Battery Mystery

This one totally beats me. After two years’ worth of abuse, my laptop battery was down to this:
Batt dead
A measly catastrophic 32% capacity resulting in an effective use tim of approximately half an hour. Then, something unforeseen must have happened, as capacity has jumped up again:
batt good
I didn’t tweak anything, honestly. So,. whilst this lasts, I’ll accept the circumstances and not purchase a new batterx like I intended to.

I’m using a 15″ MacBook Pro, and the battery app is Coconut Battery.
