Back to video. Nice.

Canon G10 out

Whilst I’m still fiddling with my G7, Canon has meanwhile released the G10, with a whopping yet pointless 14,7 million Pixels.

More interesting is the rearrangement of dials, with a combined ISO / Mode dial, and a new dedicated exposure adjustment dial. I’d really be interested to know the quality of exposures beyond 400 ISO, which are dismal with the G7. The “black” look is really cool.

Urban Photos: Blowing the dust off

Took the 1.8 50mm with me to town today and played around a bit. Quite rusty, and I wasn’t sure whether to only do details, or also Street photography, ie people.  Came out as a mixture of both, really. Stream starts here.

RAW imaging with the Canon G7

I bought my Canon G7 a while ago, in order to be able to carry a compact yet powerful point & shoot camera instead of lugging my d350 kit - that’s a digital rebel - around all the time. It looked then like Canon had lost all interest in their G line, and the G7 might even be the last model for all I knew, so I got hold of one. Not long thereafter, they changed their minds and introduced the G9, which offers one essential feature the G7 doesn’t: pictures in RAW format. The G7 takes great pictures in JPEG, but it would have been nice to at least have that option available. Read more

Featured picture: Truck pushin’

Sometimes, when I run across a really nice firefighting related picture on Flickr, I ask the author for some background infos as well as the authorisation to feature it on the blog. This is a fabulous way to get to know other firefighters around the world.

This one’s also really great. Taken by Hubsio in the philippines:

Q: What happened here?
A: its a games for our christmas party, to push the trucks to the finish line with water in the tanks. I think the reason why we play that game, because sometimes here the battery of our trucks drained out, so its like a practice of pushing the fire truck =)

Hubsio writes about himself:
im a member of the federation fire =) its a volunteer group, non government organization, its a non paid job, all volunteers, we do our own expenses to acquire our equipments, our gears. if you want more of our pictures, you can visit our site, its www.federationfire.org . And if you have anything you want, feel free to contact me, me and my elder brother are the moderator of the website.

Great work guys keep it up.

Die grosse Leere
