Firefighting Twitter-Hashtag: we did it (kinda) #EinsatzFW

#EinsatzFWThere’s still a long way to go, but it’s looking good for our #EinsatzFW hashtag. It’s fairly simple, denoting a firefighting on call – related tweet. The German-speaking firefighting community on Twitter is still quite small, which is probably why it was quite straightforward to reach an agreement. It’s also flexible, other emergency services can simply adapt, for example #EinsatzTHW or the like.

It’s definitely used by firefighters, but today’s events in Cologne (building collapse) saw quite a few Tweets and Retweets by non-firefighters using the hashtag. Perhaps it’s a small step for mankind, but how many other verticals can boast a commonly agreed hashtag? Certainly makes our lives easier.

Here’s the RSS feed from search.twitter by the way.
