Obama inauguration streaming, no Problem!
It would seem that there were massive problems with streaming Obama’s inauguration. Perhaps it’s just a matter of knowing where to look or which service to use? Zattoo was really laggy during the european Football Championships, but seems to be mostly OK by now.
I watched using Zattoo, which also includes Phoenix. I switched over to the CNN channel for the speech, and that streamed no problem either.
Incidentally, twhirl was running at the same time, Twitter seemed to experience some lag, but it was nice to be in touch – sorta. Oh I really enjoyed watching the inauguration. Sometimes I wish we could celebrate like that!
Better, Faster, Stronger
Seeing this video makes causes at least two reactions: go visit London again and go do a stop motion flick. Now, which one first? Hmmm…

FWnetz reader project on the way
I’ve finally sent out 10 prototypes of a – let’s call it revolutionary – training set which i intend to introduce by the end of the month. Basically, it’s a new concept and it’s quite complex. So I think it is perfectly natural to involve the target group in the final stages of product development.
This involves the basics of buzz marketing, which I learned at trnd, which in return is not unsimilar to BzzAgent.com. Of course, it is my intention to create some buzz for a product I genuinely feel is much needed on the market. I’d buy it on the spot.
But what matters more, and this goes beyond buzz marketing, is product development. Beyond the buzz, I get to involve the target group in development, which should ensure a final product that fulfills most firefighters’ need for this particular type of product. From an economic perspective, I am of course able to lower financial risks.
Next step is sendingout a questionnaire to the recipients, so everything is pretty much on track.
The product, incidentally, is revolving around “Planspiel”, a “game” that aims to practice decision-making on the fireground. It is primarily aimed at group leaders and captains, but I also think it’s got potential for future leaders as well as perhaps even for youth. We’ll see what the results of this phase will yield.
Twitter client hashtag filter
Sometimes, hashtag-based wordgames erupt on twitter. Some are funny, others aren’t and sometimes one isn’t in the mood to pitch in the play. A good example is Movietwitter, where movie titles are, well, twitdapted. So far, twhirl, my client of choice, doesn’t offer a hashtag filter, which would allow me to opt out of the discussion. According to Loic, plenty of new features are being added, so fingers crossed for this functionality to be added soon.
As Twitter, or rather the usage of twitter becomes more complex, I guess it won’t be easy for client to keep up with user needs. And in particular, it might be difficult to find the right balance between a “simple” client which is good enough for newbies – after all, Twitter is far from mainstream – but can also cater for the needs of long-term users. We’ll see.
Tweetback
We’ve just added the tweetback plugin to FWnetz, which essentially works a trackback. Instead of a blog post, it’s a tweet that will trigger a comment. As pl0g will confirm, it’s the best twitter plugin for WP currently available, beating both Dan Zarellas script based plugin as well as Yoast.
We’ll see how it works. The main issue might be the fact that, should many tweebacks be generated, they might wash out “real” comments. We’ll just keep an eye on it, so far it seems to be working OK.
