Back to video. Nice.

When it all comes together

This one’s a little bit hard to describe, but there are moments in life that bear a lot of weight, in whichever way. Yesterday was one such moment. I’d been preparing for a “lift” workshop where the goal ist to free a car trapped underneath a truck. Everything until then had been paperwork, phone calls, e-mails and the like. The moment the trailer was delivered, everything suddenly unwound. It was real.

There’s more depth to this story, but this is not the time and place to dwell on it. I am glad it is over, and I am glad it worked out OK. Today was a huge relief. Oh, and there aren’t many things in life that beat chucking big things onto small things. Here’s a link to the pictures.

Growing pains

Here’s one to never growing up. I was really lucky to secure five toy trucks at the supermarket last week, as well as some simple building blocks. Both to be used as practical props during the workshop next week. Man, did this make me happy :) Nice side effect: does your job involve any toys?

Ultimately I’d like to do these with my Kiev 66, but it’s definitely cheaper and easier to do the groundwork digitally. Here’s an idea for a project, and with a lot of luck it should be possible to use the same settings in both environments. Guess it’s just a matter of trying it out.

Good-Bye

Good Bye from Irakli West on Vimeo.

It’s a bit heavy, pathetic and inspired by this:

Taken in Mook Holland. It’s probably the most poignant thing I’ve ever seen, and having to but not being able to say good-bye is probably the worst thing that could happen.

Oats Slime?

It’s all about marketing. The kiddies love their porridge in the morning, which is nothing else than oats warmed up in milk, with some cinnamon and brown sugar. Add a splash of maple syrup. Sounds nice? Well in this country they’ve named it Haferschleim, or Oats Slime. No wonder it’s not a raging success. It’d be interesting to look back in history and see who screwed up – perhaps a clever scheme by someone of the likes of Corn Flakes? Suppose we’ll never know. Oats Slime. mmm.
